Rayma GLS has extensive experience in the provision of interpreting services in all its forms: simultaneous, consecutive, liaison and telephone.
This experience has allowed us to work with both national and international institutions as well as private corporations, providing them with support during their congresses, events, training activities and internal management meetings.
We can cover all requirements, from the provision of a team of specialised interpreters, to the assembly of interpretation cabins, sound equipment as well as technical personnel.
We understand simultaneous interpretation as that which is carried out in real-time, in a manner parallel to speech; in other words, the reformulation of the speech is carried out whilst the speaker is talking, with the interpretation superimposed over the original speech.
Simultaneous interpretation is characterised by its immediacy, discretion and use of technical equipment, given that the interpretation must be carried out in closed cabins, equipped with microphones, headphones and recorders. In simultaneous interpretation, the interpreters must rotate every half an hour in order to ensure the quality of the interpretation.
Consecutive interpretation is that which is carried out after a total or partial intervention of the speaker; in other words, the interpreter must listen to the discourse, or a fragment thereof, take notes if required and once the speaker has finished, this will be interpreted into the target language. Consecutive interpretation is carried out facing the audience of the speech with the interpreter placed close to the speaker, as interpreter must listen to him/her speaking live.
Whispered interpretation involves interpreter sitting to the side of, or just behind, the person requiring the linguistic support, as the interpretation is carried out simultaneously, whispered directly into the ear of the interested party.
This format can only be offered to a very reduced number of assistants in bilateral meetings or groups where there are few users who do not share the common language. In order to improve the quality of this interpretation, an Infoport system can be used with headphones and a microphone.
Public service interpretation and intercultural mediation
The growing globalisation is turning migration or the flow of refugees into a phenomenon which has extended around the world. The arrival of people from other countries and cultures, many of whom do not dominate more than their mother tongue, has caused institutions and the services sector to adapt to this new reality, and they need to count on the assistance of an interpreter in the language of the user.
This type of interpretation is known as social interpretation, in which the professional not only carries out a linguistic liaison interpretation, but also one of cultural adaptation, in other words intercultural mediation.
Telephone interpretation is a form of liaison or bilateral interpretation, with the peculiarity that it is carried out over the telephone. The advantages of this type of interpretation are its immediacy and convenience, given that the interpreter does not need to travel to where the interpretation will take place.
It is precisely this characteristic that makes it the most suitable solution for emergency services, hospitals, customer care services, sales calls or any other type of short duration calls.
Sign language interpretation
Sign language interpretation is carried out by a hearing person who basically work with two languages: Spanish and Spanish sign language (LSE). This is used in any formal situation in which a deaf person needs to interact with other hearing persons.
Rayma GLSRayma GLS provides interpretation services in Spanish sign language and also from the international sign language system to the official and joint official languages of Spain, and vice versa.
